Greens in the Winter

Greens in the North

We find the community embraces newcomers with warmth and hearty welcome. The employees of the two school boards are also super friendly.

Saturday afternoon, we had tea with the rehabilitation officer and his wife, a nurse. He’s from India and she’s French Canadian. They met here about 15 years ago.  He retired, and she recently became a grandmother, but retirement wasn’t for them and they came back after a several year hiatus.

We spent the afternoon chatting in their sunny living room.

By their south-facing window, a miniature garden produces wheat grass and various sprouts. These are later processed in a juicer. The plantings were not ready to be harvested, but will be soon. When they are we will be able to sample the green concoction.

Fresh greens in the winter. Sounds energizing!
